We went on holiday last January (I know, ages ago now) to Tallinn in Estonia and Riga in Latvia. They may seem totally randomist
destinations, but they are very much the up and coming places to go in Europe, and we wanted to get there before they went
all Prague and got over touristed and expensive. And it was WORTH it. We both have a bizzare love affair with former communist
countries, and they didn't dissppoint. For an economic system that seems to have failed completely, it sure left behind some
amazing monuments to itself. And of course there are a lot of interesting stories left behind as well.

View over Riga, Latvia |

|
This is the view from one of the church towers |
We climbed up a church tower to take this photo, and MAN, it was COLD up there! We didn't stay up there too long, to say
the least!

Cat on the Roof |

|
Part of the Riga Skyline |
This cat was put up there hundreds of years ago. Apparently, one guild decided that it didn't like another, and it put this
cat figure on the roof with it's bum facing toward the other guild. Apparently this was a big deal then and the whole town
went up in arms!

An alleyway along the walls |

|
Tallinn, Estonia |
Tallinn was much more about winding cobbled alleyways and medieval walls and towers than Riga was. It was really lovely.
